Twitter is an excellent microblogging platform, promotion mechanism and traffic driver to your blog or website. Do you know that you can easily share images, videos, music, office documents and other files with everyone who follows you on Twitter. Tweeting a file can definitely be faster than sending email. Following is a list of more than 15 ways to send and share files on twitter.

1) TweetCube – You can easily share files like images, videos, music, office documents etc on Twitter with TweetCube. Select the file you would like to upload to your Twitter followers. It can be a .zip, .rar, .pdf, .jpg, .png, .gif, .mp3 or .txt. Once uploaded, you will then be able to type your Twitter message to accompany the file. Your files get uploaded on TweetCube and are then automatically posted on Twitter. The maximum file size you can upload is currently 10MB. You can upload as many files as you want. TweetCube do not store your files forever on their servers and are deleted if the files are 30 days old.

2) FileTwt – Allows you to easily upload and tweet about your files instantly. You can upload pdf files, office documents, images media files etc along with a short tweet about the files. The maximum file size for any file is 20MB.

3) TwitDoc – It is yet another Twitter file-sharing app that supports image (jpg, png, and gif), text/Word files, PDFs, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations. You can also upload video files (avi, mov, qt, mpg, mpeg, mp4, m4v, wmv, and flv ) of upto 25MB in size. The user interface is easy, neat and clean, which allows a user to choose file to upload, write the tweet, and shorten the URL. Once the upload button’s been clicked, the tweet is posted. The document posted as a link cannot be downloaded. TwitDoc uses Scribd for these files types, and Scribd allows the files to be emailed or embedded. Good service if you only want to share the document. You can also download TwitDoc’s Adobe AIR desktop client which enables you to drag and drop your files into your tweets. Maximum file size is restricted to 10MB.

4) FileSocial – This is my personal favorite that allows you to share any file through your Twitter account. Sharing files is very easy. Just enter your Twitter login credentials, write some text, and attach the document you want to share. Your file is then shared across all of your contacts on Twitter. Anyone can see, comment on and even download that file through that link.

5) RaviShare – If you are looking for an app with which you can share your files that are big in size via Twitter and other Social Networks then RaviShare works best. Simply select a file, click Upload and wait for a link that you can share via Twitter, e-mail or other social networking websites. RaviShare also allows you to password protect the links which is a missing feature in other file sharing service on twitter. Maximum file size is restricted to 300MB (3 files max).

6) ShareTwitter – The service allows you to upload and share your files on Twitter along with 100 character tweet. ShareTwitter also allows you to keep track of all the uploaded files. You can easily store or delete the files or share the links using “My Files” feature. The file sharing service provides unlimited storage space 512MB per file which makes it a top choice for twitters who frequently upload the documents to share on twitter.

7) TwitterShare – It allows you to share pictures, music, video, and other files with friends using Twitter. The interface is very easy to use. Just drag out a file, Tap out a tweet and click. Maximum file size is restricted to 10MB.

8) TwitFS – It is one of the best app to share file like videos, audios, pictures, documents like pdf or Microsoft. Simply select a file from your computer, and then share the links on twitter. If the uploaded file has no activity for over 30 days, the file gets deleted. Do not upload files that are against TwitFS TOS (Terms of Service) else the file will be automatically deleted and blocked from being uploaded again. Max file size allowed is 100MB.

TwitFS provides you with a control of deleting the file you uploaded which other service do not provide. After uploading a file, you receive two sets of links. A primary set of ‘download links’ allows for you to integrate your file as needed. A secondary, ‘delete link’ is also supplied. In order to delete a file, simply click on the delete link.

9) Acamin -  This service allows you to share files with your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Click ‘Browse’ to attach the file and then share the link on twitter. Max file size allowed is 15MB.

10) Twitc – The service is a powerful that allows you to organize, search, view, comment, share, embed, batch download, collect, favorite, rate uploads, view timelines and profiles, post short URL links and send updates to your profile on Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. You can easily upload and share Videos (HD Video and Flash Videos), Office Documents and PDF Files, Audio Recordings and Digital Camera Photos.

11) Drop.io – Using firefox addon you can use Drop.io as a file sharing service for Twitter. Once you install the firefox addon open it. Create a drop. Now, at the top of the screen, you will notice: drop.io/whateveryoucalledit/settings. Click on “whateveryoucalledit” and you will then notice three tabs: add, view, share. Click the Share tab. On the list, click “Twitter”, then enter your Twitter logon details. You can now easily share the files directly to twitter.

12) Tweet-R – It is a desktop App for Mac that allows you to send files to twitter. Just drag the file you want to upload and share. Tweetr will automatically upload your file and when it is done will provide a short url to send to your friends. Max file size allowed is 10MB.

13) TwitPlus – It is yet another file sharing service on twitter. Select the photos, files or office documents you want to share on twitter. Once uploaded send the link to your public Twitter timeline or send them directly to specific Twitter followers.

14) Filetweet – The service allows users to send files along with tweet to their Twitter followers. Using Filetweet is very easy. Just Sign up with your twitter credentials. You will see the notice – “The application FileTweet by Elliott Kember would like the ability to access and update your data on Twitter….”. Click Allow to proceed. You can now use multiple recipients: “aot, kah”. The service allows you to send files to your followers only.

If the file size is really big then just upload the files to services like yousendit, rapidshare, megaupload and share the links on twitter.
